Opening Night Was Swell.

Wow - Silverdocs got off to a great start last night, beginning with a screening of The Swell Season - a beautiful film about folk-rock musicians Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, their fast rise to fame and the effect of life on the road on a budding romance.  Chris Dapkins and Nick August-Perna joined us for a Q&A moderated by NPR’s All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen, in which they discussed how a project that was originally intended to document a rock band’s tour turned into an intimate and quiet portrait of Hansard and Irglova, two very talented and creative individuals.

And then - the after party.  As evidenced by the photos, a great time was had by all, and it’s safe to say a few conference attendees, filmmakers and staff may have found it difficult to pull themselves out of bed this morning.  Check out www.silverdocs.com/facebook for more opening night photos and to tag yourself and your friends!
